Katie Piper reveals bandaged eye in hospital as she recovers from surgery on acid attack injury
Katie Piper has thanked fans for their support as she recovers in hospital following surgery on her eyelid.
The TV presenter has been in hospital this week for a skin graft on her right eyelid to correct an issue caused by an acid attack in 2008.
Despite her surgery, Katie is in good spirits and shared photos of her post-op with a small bandage over her right eyelid but with a big smile on her face.
She captioned the Instagram post: ‘Thank you to everyone for all of your lovely messages of support! They’ve helped me keep smiling throughout my surgery, and a big thanks to the incredible team at the hospital 💛 here’s to a lazy recovery weekend!’
Peter Andre passed on his well wishes and commented: ‘You’re amazing,’ with red heart emoji.
Gabby Roslin added: ‘Sending so much love to you my darling ❤️❤️❤️.’
Fearne Cotton wrote: ‘Big love to you wonderful woman 😍😍😍.’
Luisa Zissman also said: ‘Darling I wish you a speedy recovery, you really are the most amazing human ever!! ❤️❤️❤️.’
Katie, 37, revealed she was back in hospital for the planned surgery on Tuesday.
Spreading positivity with her followers, she said cheerfully: ‘Morning lovely people, I have a very optimistic affirmation for you today. 30th March, what happened in the past is done with . It is the actions that you take next that will shape the rest of your life.
‘I think that’s a really exciting affirmation, knowing that there’s so much more in front of you than there is behind you. I think sometimes the past is best left where it belongs.’
After receiving DMs from concerned fans, Katie later added: ‘Thank-you for all the messages, I am fine. I’m having a planned operation to my eyelid. I’m having another skin graft to my right eye.’
Katie was attacked with acid in 2008 in an incident which was orchestrated by an ex-boyfriend, who was later jailed along with the man he enlisted to carry out the attack.
