Ricky And Morty delivered an epic April fool’s prank with an intro for a fake new series titled Rick And Morty Babies – and fans are so obsessed they’re demanding actual episodes.
The hoax began with the network Adult Swim joking they were rebranding to Adult Swim Junior, with the trippy cartoon soon dropping a reimagined version of its opening credits.
In the 30-second clip, Rick and Morty appeared as, you guessed it, babies, and got about in strollers and tricycles as they continued their space-traveling adventures.
‘Welcome to a multiverse for every age!’ the show’s official Twitter account wrote alongside the video.
Fans are totally obsessed with the intro and have called for bosses to drop a series featuring Rick and Morty as tots.
‘Shouldn’t have joked this intro as now i want a spinoff prequel,’ wrote one.
‘OMG I need this in my life! Please make it a real thing and not just an April fool’s…,’ added another.
Echoing a similar sentiment, a third wrote: ‘I would definitely watch this.’
The prank comes just a few days after a release date for Rick and Morty season five was announced.
The hotly-anticipated show is confirmed to hit the US on June 20, while a release date in the UK remains up in the air.
While plot details also remain under wraps, we do know that the new series won’t be directly addressing the coronavirus pandemic.
Show creators also have also promised fans some ‘epic canon’ will be taking place.
‘Fans are gonna like get knocked over by the canon we’re about to hit them with,’ writer Scott Marder teased. ‘All the stuff we’re doing is so awesome.’
Rick And Morty returns on June 20 on Adult Swim.
