Bridgerton’s Regé-Jean Page is tipped to be the next James Bond after it’s revealed he’s left the Netflix show

BRIDGERTON fans have tipped Regé-Jean Page to be the next Bond – and the bookies have slashed their odds too.

It comes after it was revealed the hunk won’t be starring in season two of the hit Netflix show.

Regé-Jean Page is a front-runner to be Bond

Ladbrokes has lowered the odds of him replacing Daniel Craig as 007 from 5/1 to just 7/2.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Rege-Jean Page has been tipped as a potential Daniel Craig replacement and today’s shock Bridgerton news has only strengthened his chances of getting the gig.”

Fans are optimistic the actor will land the gig as the famous spy.

One wrote on Twitter: “Rege-Jean Page needs to be the next 007.”

Another said: “Regé-Jean Page not in Bridgerton next season? Get him signed up for the next Bond films.”

A third shared: “Ok so do we think Rege is leaving #bridgerton bc he got offered the role of the next James Bond or the next Black Panther? Bc it’s def one of those two.”

He has been linked to the role for months and in a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show evaded the subject.

The Duke of Hastings actor said: “Bridgerton is the only ‘B” word I am allowed to say – I am not going to talk about the other ‘B’ words!”

Regé, 31, became a stand-out star as the leading character Simon Basset in the period drama.

Insiders said Regé only had a deal for one series and that he was never meant to return as each season will focus on a different novel from best-selling author Julia Quinn.

Phoebe Dynevor, 25, is expected to return as Daphne Bridgerton.
It’s believed filming for the second series will begin this month and that the story will focus on Andrew Bridgerton, played by Jonathan Bailey.

Netflix confirmed Regé was not returning to the show today and posted a statement, written in the style of the era of Bridgerton.

It read: “Dear Readers, while all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings.

“We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family.

Kim Kardashian was stunned by the news

“Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear.

“Yours truly, Lady Whistledown.”

The actor also shared the statement, adding: “Pleasure and a privilege! An honour to be a member of the family – on and off screen, cast, crew and incredible fans – the love is real and will just keep growing.”

Viewers were devastated by the announcement, with many questioning if they will tune in for season two.

One wrote on Twitter: “Wait but what’s the point of watching the show then?”

Another posted: “Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE! Seriously…this HAS to be a belated April Fools!”

A third quipped: “Excuse me?”

Kim Kardashian was equally as stunned , commenting on the Instagram announcement: “Wait!!! WHAT????”
