Kirstie Allsopp has vowed to boycott shops and pubs if the UK introduces vaccine passports amid the coronavirus pandemic.

It is currently being reviewed as to whether people will have to show proof of having had the coronavirus vaccine to enter buildings and venues in the future, with Boris Johnson expected to address the topic on Monday.

While some aren’t sure, others have pointed out the benefits, especially for locations like music venues and theatres.

However, Location, Location, Location presenter Kirstie has made her position clear, writing on Twitter: ‘Vacation [vaccination] certificates have long been an accepted part of international travel, but I will not enter a UK pub, shop or theatre that requires medical information before serving me or my family, nor will I vote for any party that supports this, it is a step too far.’

Clarifying her views in responses to followers, Kirstie added that she’d rather it was a ‘matter of trust’, with people making the choice to stay home if they haven’t been vaccinated.

The 49-year-old has divided her followers with the post, with some disagreeing with her.

‘No it isn’t – it’s a step towards freedom and normalcy,’ one wrote, while another added: ‘It’s not for life it’s until the country is vaccinated. If you choose not to it’s your choice but if it’s a matter of checking in as we do now with our phones it’s hardly gonna be that much of an inconvenience. If it helps the country why not.’

Others agreed with her, with one commenting: ‘I cannot believe how many people actually think that vaccination passports in exhange [sic] for a normal life is acceptable . Has everyone gone mad ?’

‘Completely agree,’ another said. ‘I won’t be spending money in any UK establishments that require proof of being vaccinated. For international travel, countries often require certain vaccines before you’re allowed to enter.’

The use of vaccine passports is currently under review ahead of their expected use during the summer this year. They will allow access to certain venues, such as bars and restaurants, dependent on whether guests have had their vaccine or not.

The Prime Minister is due to announce more details about the scheme on Monday.

While shops could potentially be exempt, vaccine passports could be needed for big events such as music festivals.

In fact, speaking to the BBC recently, festival boss Melvin Benn said that they will ‘almost certainly’ be in place for this year’s Reading & Leeds festivals.
