A Place In The Sun presenter Laura Hamilton has hit out at rumours that she was considering quitting the Channel 4 series, saying the false reports ‘upset’ her.

Laura, 38, has starred on A Place In The Sun since 2012, appearing as a presenter and property expert.

A report recently suggested that she was planning on leaving the programme so that she could present her own show.

However, in an interview, Laura has quashed the claims, having made a joke on her Birds With Baggage IGTV live stream that it would be fun to do a travel show that takes inspiration from Priscilla Queen Of The Desert.

The former Dancing On Ice runner-up said that ‘there is no rumour’ in reference to the report, stating: ‘I didn’t even say I was looking to leave’.

‘In fact I had a conversation with my boss because it really upset me and I never ever said I was looking to leave. Why would I?’ she told Entertainment Daily.

Describing the speculation as ‘terrible’, she explained that just because she showed interest in taking part in ‘other TV projects’ and ‘other travel things’ didn’t mean she was looking to bid farewell to A Place In The Sun.

‘It’s just terrible how people twist things that are said. It’s not fair. People do need to be careful about the things they write,’ she added.

Laura also warned that it ‘could have actually been very detrimental to my career and I think that’s really unfair’.

A Place In The Sun is set to return with 30 new episodes this month, welcoming new presenter Lee Juggurnauth into the fold.

The upcoming episodes, which will air at 3pm on Channel 4, will follow the team of property experts as they try and help individuals find their dream homes abroad.

In January this year, Laura opened up to Metro.co.uk about a hilarious moment on the show that viewers won’t get to see which ‘wrecked the filming schedule’.

The presenter explained that seven cars containing cast and crew got stuck in the mud, resulting in them having to be rescued by tractors.

A Place In The Sun is available to watch on All 4.
