Billie Eilish has opened up about her hair transformation, and has revealed that it took six weeks for her to get the shade of blonde she desired.

The singer broke the internet when she debuted her lighter locks last month, subsequently achieving one million likes on Instagram in six minutes, breaking a previous record held by Selena Gomez.

Hosting an Instagram Q&A session with fans, Billie has since spoken more about the process behind her new look, which she had previously kept under wraps.

One follower asked the 19-year-old if her hair was ‘damaged or healthy after the bleaching process’ to which she responded: ‘Honestly so healthy and I wasn’t expecting that at all.

‘It’s actually healthier than it’s been in a longggggggg time.’

Another fan questioned why Billie had chosen to keep her new hair colour a secret at first.

She then shared a picture of her first attempt of bleaching her hair, while also posting a timestamp to confirm that the photo was taken on Jan 16.

Billie replied: ‘Cause it took six weeks to accomplish… this was the first round.’

Which is only fair enough.

Last month, the Bad Guy hitmaker had asked fans to guess which colour she would dye her hair next, after previously rocking a series of other funky colours, from black and green to teal.

Later sharing a video of herself flipping her voluminous locks before turning to smile at the camera, she captioned the post: ‘Did you guess correctly?’

Billie then posted a photo of her new hair in its all glory, as she wrote: ‘Pinch me.’

The post has since gone on to achieve over 22 million likes, becoming one of the most liked Instagram pictures of all time.

In the meantime, the Grammy-winner has been busy working on new music, and recently revealed she’s recorded an entire album in lockdown, after she had to cancel her world tour due to the pandemic.

When asked if she would be showcasing the power of her vocals on the new songs, she told Stephen Colbert: ‘There’s a couple of moments on this album where I pull some tricks out. It’s really just about what I feel sounds good.’

Opening up about recording the album in lockdown, she explained: ‘I don’t think I would’ve made the same album, or even the album at all, if it weren’t for Covid.

‘That doesn’t mean it’s about Covid at all, it’s just that, when things are different in your life, you’re different. That’s just how it is. So, I have to thank Covid for that, and that’s about it.’
