Rick Ross leads stars praying for DMX as rapper ‘in serious condition after overdose’

Rick Ross has led the stars praying for DMX’s recovery after the star has reportedly been hospitalised following a drug overdose.

The star, 50, whose real name is Earl Simmons, is claimed to have had an overdose at around 11pm at his home on Friday night. 

TMZ reports that a source close to the rapper claims the overdose triggered a heart attack, with doctors warning he may not make it. 

Fans and friends of the star have been sending supportive messages, with Rick sharing a video on his Instagram Stories.

‘Prayers up for DMX the legend, let’s put that in the sky,’ he said.

DJ Eric B also shared a photo of himself with DMX, telling his followers: ‘Please pray for my brother DMX’, while Missy Elliott added: ‘Prayers for DMX and his family’.

Ja Rule who shared a host of prayer hands emojis, adding: ‘Prayers up for my brother DMX…’ while actress Viola Davis has said: ‘Praying for DMX’.

Jameela Jamil said: ‘This DMX news is so sad. He’s so special. We do not have a society set up to support mental health. We have a society that underfunds it and actively works against it.’

Meanwhile actor Wendell Pierce has added: ‘DMX is a unique voice. Pray so it won’t be silenced.’

Gabrielle Union tweeted: ‘Please pray, send healing energy, whatever positive vibes you can for #DMX.’

Little is known about DMX’s current condition, with TMZ reporting a source claims he has ‘some brain activity’ and is being treated in hospital in White Plains, New York, with another source claiming he is in a ‘vegetative state’.

DMX, who was one of the original stars of Ruff Ryders hip-hop collective and record label, has previously spoken about his drug use, including crack cocaine, and has been to rehab several times.
