Taylor Swift confirms Keith Urban collaboration as she unveils tracklist for rerecorded version of Fearless
Taylor Swift has finally confirmed the tracklist for the rerecorded version of her second studio album Fearless – and it includes a collaboration with Keith Urban.
The singer, 31, has already released the new version of the album’s hit single Love Story and previously unreleased track You All Over Me featuring Maren Morris to give fans a taste of what to expect on the record – which will drop in less than a week.
Taylor had recently sent fans into a frenzy when she shared a very cryptic teaser to social media, with a series of hints and clues regarding the new ‘From The Vault’ songs which will feature alongside rerecordings of the album’s existing tracks.
A lot of eagle-eyed fans of the hitmaker had already suggested that Keith was going to feature on one of the songs, after seeing his name appear backwards in the teaser clip.
And it looks like they were right after all, after Taylor shared the exciting news of the tracklisting online.
‘You cracked the codes and guessed all the From The Vault titles,’ she said. ‘Here’s the full track list, my friends.’
Keith, 53, is set to make a guest appearance on previously unheard song That’s When, while also performing harmonies on We Were Happy.
This isn’t the first time Taylor has teamed up with the country singer, after they previously joined forces alongside Tim McGraw for the 2013 single Highway Don’t Care.
Speaking of their new collaboration, Taylor revealed that Keith has always been a big inspiration to her, after she previously performed as an opening act for him on tour.
She wrote: ‘I’m really honoured that @KeithUrban is a part of this project, duetting on That’s When and singing harmonies on We Were Happy. I was his opening act during the Fearless album era and his music has inspired me endlessly.
‘I’m counting down the minutes til we can all jump into this brave world together, filled with equal parts nostalgia and brand newness.’
Referencing a lyric in the album’s title track, she added: ‘Head first, Fearless.’
Taylor had previously confirmed the release date for the rerecorded version of Fearless in February, and explained why she had decided to include new ‘songs from the vault’ onto the record.
She stated: ‘I’ve decided to add songs from the vault, which are songs that almost made the original Fearless album, but I’ve now gone back and recorded those so that everyone will be able to hear not only the songs that made the album but the songs that almost made it – the full picture.’
Taylor is in the process of rerecording her first five studio albums after the masters were sold to Scooter Braun as part of his acquisition of her previous record label, Big Machine.
Fans have been speculating over which album could be released next, and it may well be Taylor’s fifth effort, 1989, after she shared a preview of a rerecorded version of the record’s fifth single, Wildest Dreams.
The new version of the song will feature in the upcoming Dreamworks film Spirited Untamed, and we can already hear a snippet of it in the movie’s trailer.
We can’t wait to hear it.
Fearless (Taylor’s Version) by Taylor Swift will be released on April 9.
