Line of Duty fans think they’ve spotted a clue pointing to the identity of ‘H’ staring at us in plain sight – on Steph Corbett’s tiles.

In the latest episode from series six, Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) grew closer to John Corbett’s (Stephen Graham) widow, spending the night in her bed two years after her husband was killed by Ryan Pilkington (Gregory Piper).

And in another wild theory from viewers, they believe an ‘intricate’ clue was hiding in Steph’s (Amy De Bhrún) kitchen.

Plenty of fans thought the ‘H’ pattern in Steph’s tiles was a direct link to whoever ‘H’ – the bent copper AC-12 has been hunting for the last three series – might be.

‘Steph’s kitchen tiles say ‘H’ on them… just saying… #LineOfDuty,’ tweeted one eagle-eyed viewers, while another agreed: ‘Her kitchen tiles are in the shape of a ‘H’. What could this mean? #LineOfDuty #LineOfDuty6 #LOD.’

A third noticed: ‘There’s a H in the tiles!! #LineOfDuty.’

And their theory was echoed by many more armchair detectives, although none of them can quite compare to one Line of Duty megafan who has an actual investigation board Ted Hastings would marvel at.

After taking notes on every episode, IT specialist Katie Rogers has researched into real-life cases that have inspired writer Jed Mercurio (such as the murder of Jill Dando) to get a further insight into his mind.

‘I joined it about series three and discussing theories just made me get more into the nitty gritty of it,’ she explained to Metro.co.uk. ‘I think when you watch another series, you have to watch it all from the very beginning again because it all ties up.’

And after thorough investigation, she is adamant that H is referring to a surname.

‘I do think it is either Paul Haleton or Susan Hyde-Albert,’ she suggested.

Last night’s episode ended with DCI Joanne Davidson (Kelly Macdonald) chatting to an uknonwn person online, confirming she had thrown Detective Superintendent Ian Buckells under the bus, planting suspicion he is ‘H’ to AC-12.

It was the same software used by John Corbett in series five to make contact with H.

Line of Duty airs Sundays at 9pm on ITV.
