Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande secretly record new collaboration and we need to hear it ASAP
Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande created magic last year with their number one single and they reportedly have another collaboration stashed away.
Last year, the popstars teamed up for the charity single Stuck With U, with proceeds going towards coronavirus relief efforts.
The track proved to be a huge success and reached number one in both the US and UK last May.
Well. it appears Justin and Ariana had actually worked together before last year. According to producer BMW Kenny, Ariana recorded a version of Justin’s track Wish You Would, which now features Quavo and appears on Justin’s new Justice album.
So somewhere in a vault far away, Ariana’s version is just sitting around waiting for the world to hear.
Revealing news of the collaboration for the first time, Kenny – who produced Wish You Would – told Metro.co.uk: ‘Wish You Would was slated to be on the album Purpose but for some weird reason… it was actually supposed to be with Ariana Grande.
‘I actually believe there is a version with Ariana Grande out there, somewhere in the computers on the hard drive.’
The music producer continued: ‘The first version was with Cody Simpson, then they put Ariana Grande on there. I don’t know what happened with the song but it didn’t make Purpose so it just sat in a vault. He put out Changes but sometimes when you do an album, you gotta catalogue the songs.
‘Sometimes I’ll write a song and the artist just won’t get it or won’t understand what it’s purpose is for. I think the song at one point, I was told an A&R friend just suggested the song in a regular conversation and sometimes that’s all it takes.
‘Somebody to spark someone’s memory of a song and that’s pretty much what it was. He listened to it, liked it, it was already mixed. It was one of those songs that was supposed to go on the album. The song was already done.’
Kenny reveals that Wish You Were was dropped from Purpose in favour of a Skrillex production, although it’s hard to tell which one as the EDM producer worked on several tracks for Justin’s 2015 album.
Wish You Would has proved to be a popular number on the deluxe version of Justn’s Justice album but Kenny admits the long wait has somewhat dampened his excitement about it.
‘When it came out I was so unfazed because it took the song so long to come out,’ he admitted.
‘If this came out on Purpose I would have jumped off the building with a parachute right now. I would be totally happy but right now it just feels normal.’
BMW Kenny’s latest singles, Wipe It Down – the famous TikTok challenge – and HaHa, are available to stream now.
Justin Bieber’s new album Justice is also out now.
