Lil Nas X isn’t letting any hate get him down as his new single Montero (Call Me By Your Name) debuted at the top of the US charts.

The 21-year-old rapper has once again found himself at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, with Montero being his first track to debut at the top spot.

The chart success comes amid the ongoing backlash Lil Nas X – real name Montero Lamar Hill – has received for the accompanying music video.

When he dropped the clip last month, viewers were shocked to see the rapper pole-dancing in hell, being shackled by captors in Regency-era wings, and giving the devil a lapdance.

However, others loved the non-apologetic video which also saw the musician don a series of candy-coloured wigs and skintight costumes.

Following news of his chart success, Lil Nas X took to Twitter to share his joy about the achievement as he wrote: ‘y’all told a 19 year old who had just escaped the lowest point of his life that he would never have a hit again. you told him to stop while he’s ahead.

‘he could’ve gave up. but 4 multi platinum songs and 2 #1’s later, he’s still here. thank you to my team and my fans! ily.’

The hitmaker couldn’t resist taking a dig at those who have been against his career as he quipped: ‘i hope my haters are sad. i hope they are crying. i want your tears to fill my grammy cup.’

He then added: ‘all jokes aside, we get to control our own destiny, never let the world decide it for you. no matter how dark it may look keep f**king going!’

The star even revealed video he had recorded last year in which he was praising himself for future success.

However, Lil Nas X’s woes aren’t over after he was blasted by Nike, who are now suing him, for his ‘Satan’ trainers where there’s a drop of blood in the sole.

The company took issues with this fact his sneaker collection appears to bear a similar logo to the sports brand’s logo.
