Morgan Freeman has encouraged people to get the coronavirus vaccine, urging fans to ‘take care of each other’.

The Shawshank Redemption star shared a powerful video, with the star saying he’s been told that ‘people trust him’.

‘I’m not a doctor but I trust science,’ he began. ‘And I’m told that, for some reason, people trust me. And here I am to say I trust science and I got the vaccine. If you trust me, you’ll get the vaccine.

‘In math it’s called the distributive property. In people, it’s called taking care of one another. Help make our world a safe place for us to enjoy ourselves again. Please.’

The video ends with the words: ‘This is your shot.’

The 83-year-old isn’t the only star to encourage fans to get their vaccine, with many sharing their experiences of getting the jab on social media.

Dolly Parton, who donated $1million (£720,000) towards the Moderna vaccine, recently glammed up for both her doses.

‘I’m very happy that I’m gonna get my Moderna shot today and I wanted to tell everybody that you should get out there and do it too,’ she said.

‘I even changed one of my songs to fit the occasion!’ the country queen joked, before singing: ‘Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, I’m begging of you, please don’t hesitate.

‘Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, ’cause once you dead, then that’s a bit too late!’

Meanwhile, the likes of Sir Anthony Hopkins, Dame Judi Dench, Stephen Fry, and Piers Morgan have excitedly shared their experiences.

Elsewhere, stars including Adil Ray, Konnie Huq, and Romesh Ranganathan encouraged people from BAME backgrounds to take up the vaccine when invited.

Adil stressed the need to ‘look after others’.

He said: ‘Looking after others and serving our community is what we do. It’s how we have been brought up. It’s why we have such immense pride when a family member becomes a doctor or a nurse.

‘We have so much respect for them. They need our respect now more than ever. They need our help.’

Former Blue Peter presenter Konnie added: ‘Our community has played its part… the vaccine was available more quickly because of a global effort,’ while comic Romesh was on hand to debunk myths surrounding the jab.

‘There is no chip or tracker in the vaccine to keep watching where you go, your mobile phone actually does a much better job of that,’ he joked.
