Piers Morgan has suggested that Sheryl Underwood should have been fired from The Talk following her clash with Sharon Osbourne.

The two presenters got into a heated debate during a March episode of The Talk over Piers’ controversial comments about Meghan Markle

Former X Factor judge Sharon insisted Piers wasn’t racist and challenged Sheryl to ‘educate’ her about racism while shouting, swearing and becoming tearful. The uncomfortable incident resulted in Sharon leaving The Talk following an investigation by CBS and mounting criticism towards her, while Sheryl remained on the panel.

Addressing the controversy, Piers said during his interview with Tucker Carlson: ‘[Sharon] was taken down very deliberately, and it was all because she dared to tweet that I was entitled to my own opinion.

‘Because she said that on Twitter she was attacked on her own show by her co-hosts who said that that effectively was her supporting someone who said “racist” things.’

He was referring to Sharon’s tweets publicly supporting him when he quit Good Morning Britain after receiving 57,000 complaints for his criticism of Meghan.

Piers continued: ‘When Sharon got annoyed and said, “What did he say that was racist”, they couldn’t say anything because I’ve never have.

‘Now Sharon’s gone too.’

The 57-year-old went on to note Sheryl’s response to the controversy surrounding George Lopez, who was accused of making ‘racist’ comments about Black women in a 2017 stand-up routine.

‘[Sheryl wasn’t outraged]… she defended George Lopez on The Talk four days later so there’s a real sickening hypocrisy,’ Piers claimed.

He then stated: ‘I’m staggered Sheryl Underwood is still on that show. How can you be on a show when you forcibly brand someone a racist? And when you’re challenged about it you can’t produce any evidence.

‘Isn’t that by the Sharon Osbourne scale of dismissal a fireable offense? I’d said so. But there lies the hypocrisy at the heart of this debate.’

He also claimed that Sheryl ‘knows’ he ‘is not a racist’.

Elsewhere in his explosive interview, Piers accused Alex Beresford of ‘premeditating’ their row on GMB, in which he stormed off as the weatherman challenged him over his comments against Meghan.

Piers also doubled down on his previous statement that he ‘doesn’t believe’ Meghan’s revelations in her Oprah Winfrey interview.
