Antonio Brown to Tampa Bay Buccaneers Still Not a Done Deal

Bruce Arians-coached Tampa Bay Buccaneers started the 2020 NFL campaign with some new names on their roster. Tight end Rob Gronkowski came out of retirement to sign a short-term deal in Florida. But their top acquisition last summer was 6-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady. He helped bring in some big names last season, including former New England Patriots teammate, Antonio Brown.

Brady reportedly personally approached coach Arians and Bucs GM Jason Licht for AB. The former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver was eligible to return to the NFL after serving an 8-game ban for off-field issues.

He penned a short-term deal with the Buccaneers. Antonio Brown even went on to catch a touchdown pass from Brady in the 9-31 Super Bowl LV win over Kansas City Chiefs.

NFC South franchise, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, were the definite surprise package in the NFL last time out. They started off as outside challengers to make the NFL Playoffs. They obviously exceeded expectations by going all the way and winning the Super Bowl LV title at the Raymond James Stadium in February.

A large reason behind their success was the arrival of Brady, Gronkowski, and Antonio Brown. The latter had 500+ receiving yards and 6 TDs last season. GM Jason Licht has managed to tie down all 22 starters from their Super Bowl LV triumph.

But Brown is yet to agree on an extension in order to remain in Florida this year. Here’s what RB Leonard Fournette (who recently signed a short-term deal with the Buccaneers) had to say about playing alongside AB.

Reports in The Tampa Bay Times indicates that both parties involved are from coming to an amicable solution. In fact, Brown has continued to be linked with signing for Pete Carroll’s Seattle Seahawks as well, amongst other teams in the NFL. With 11,746 receiving yards and 79 receiving TDs, AB remains one of the top wide receivers the NFL has ever seen.
