DMZ is set to be tested for brain function as the rapper remains on life support after his heart attack on Friday.

The Ruff Ryders star, real name Earl Simmons, remains at a hospital in White Plains, New York following a reported overdose at his home on Friday.

The iconic rapper, 50, is said to be in a ‘grave condition’ and his manager has revealed he will undergo a series of tests to determine how much brain function and activity.

According to People magazine, these tests will dictate further decisions to be made by DMX’s family.

The rapper’s manager Steve Rifkin told the publication: ‘We are just waiting on the doctors to tell us what the next steps are’.

DMX was taken to hospital on Friday night and admitted to intensive care where he was placed on life support.

DMX’s lawyer mistakenly revealed he had been removed from life support and was breathing on his own, however, he later admitted this was wrong information.

A vigil for DMX was held outside the hospital on Monday evening and was attended by a hord of fans.

The rapper’s ex-wife Tashera Simmons and fiancee Desiree Lindstrom were among the family members who attended the vigil outside White Plains Hospital in New York.

DMX, who was one of the original stars of Ruff Ryders hip-hop collective and record label, has previously spoken about his drug use, including crack cocaine, and has been to rehab several times.

He is last known to have been in rehab in 2019 following a 12-month sentence for tax evasion.
