Falcon and Winter Soldier: Could Marvel shows all be connected by Infinity Stones? Wild fan theory connects the dots
Warning: spoilers ahead for episode there of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
A wild fan theory appears to have found a link between The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, the other MCU series on Disney Plus and the Infinity Stones… and if we’re being honest, we’re definitely buying it.
One of the best parts of being a diehard Marvel fan – something which is as equally entertaining as it is frustrating – is the effort that goes into overanalysing every single detail of the films for Easter Eggs, from Captain Marvel to Avengers: Endgame.
Three episodes into Falcon and The Winter Soldier, the action-packed story has already treated viewers to a slew of clues, including X-Men nods and Captain America throwbacks.
But one Reddit user has shared a theory that could prove Marvel shows, from WandaVision to Hawkeye, are even more closely connected than fans realise.
In the 2018 film Avengers: Infinity War, cinema-goers watched in shock as the Titan Thanos (Josh Brolin) finally managed to obtain all six of the Infinity Stones, placing them in the Infinity Gauntlet before snapping half of the universe out of existence.
The six Infinity Stones, which are introduced throughout the MCU timeline, are: the Space Stone, the Reality Stone, the Power Stone, the Mind Stone, the Time Stone, and the Soul Stone.
In a post recently shared on Reddit, a user who goes by the handle xsupermonkeyboyx speculated that each of the Infinity Stones is represented by a Marvel series.
Their thought process was sparked after watching the new trailer for Loki, which comes out in June and centres around an organisation called the TVA (Time Variance Authority).
‘I had this thought after watching the latest trailer for Loki and figured I’d post this here as this is probably where most people who have seen Wandavision and are currently watching this show will be,’ they said on Reddit.
They then lead up to the question: ‘What if each of the main storyline shows corresponds to an Infinity Stone?’
Explaining their reasoning further, the Reddit user pointed out that it would make sense for WandaVision to represent the Reality Stone, ‘as Wanda literally changed reality’.
Next is Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which they deduced signified the Power Stone.
‘A big focus seems to be on the super soldier serum which gives its user immense power. Also the fact that the Powerbroker will likely play a big role,’ they wrote.
Another ‘obvious’ conclusion to draw was that Loki could represent the Time Stone, ‘as it seems that Loki will hop around to different points in time working with the TVA’.
Then for the following upcoming Marvel series, xsupermonkeyboyx theorised that Hawkeye could be a symbol for the Soul Stone, given it was the Infinity Stone Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) retrieves in Avengers: Endgame.
They added that ‘Hawkeye has always been the most grounded character and will probably have the most to do with the soul’.
Secret Invasion, which is set to explore the infiltration of the shape-shifting Skrulls on Earth, could symbolise the Space stone, they added.
Which then leaves the Mind Stone, which they believe could be linked to Ms. Marvel, which will tell the story of Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani).
‘This one was just the last one left but it might make sense if the story focuses on Kamala coming to terms with being a “mutant” and being at peace of mind with her powers,’ they said.
While many Marvel theories are often shut down by the fandom pretty quickly, this one seemed to appeal to several other Reddit users in the comment section.
‘Oh, I like this,’ one person said, while another wrote: ‘I don’t know if it would have any bearing on the shows themselves, but I really like that connection.’
‘Wait this is brilliant,’ someone else remarked, with another fan stating: ‘Not sure they actually thought about this, but love the concept.’
So do you think the Marvel series could be connected to the Infinity Stones? Have your say below!
The fourth episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is set to launch on Friday.
Fans are hoping they’ll learn more about the elusive Power Broker, who runs the fictional island of Madripoor, which was introduced in the third instalment.
Following the arrival of Wakandan warrior Ayo (Florence Kasumba), viewers are also hopeful that more Black Panther characters could enter the fray.
Will Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) manage to stop Baron Helmut Zemo (Daniel Brühl) from slipping through their fingers after helping him to escape from prison?
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is available to watch on Disney Plus with new episodes released on Fridays.
