Oscar-winning producer Scott Rudin is facing allegations of abusive behavior by former staffers in a new report.

A lengthy expose of claims has been published by The Hollywood Reporter, detailing multiples instances in which the moviemaker allegedly behaved like an ‘absolute monster’ to employees at Scott Rudin Productions.

Rudin – who is celebrated as one of the most prolific producers of our era – is responsible for such films as There Will Be Blood, Social Network, Zoolander, and Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

Former assistant Andrew Coles told the publication that the uber-producer ‘allegedly smashed an Apple computer monitor on [another] assistant’s hand’ in 2012, while in a fit of fury over the staffer’s failure to book him on a flight.

Rudin declined to comment on any of the specific allegations mentioned in the article when approached by THR.

The alleged victim of the incident – who was said to have been left in need of immediate medical attention – also declined to comment.

Another former assistant alleged that Rudin threw a baked potato at his head in 2018 after he was caught off guard with a potential meeting.

He recalled: ‘I went into the kitchen, and I was like, “Hey, Scott, A24 is on the way up. I’m not sure what it’s concerning,”

‘And he flipped out, like, “Nobody told me A24 was on my schedule.” He threw it at me, and I dodged a big potato. He was like, !Well, find out, and get me a new potato.”‘

Another former assistant claimed that Rudin ‘relished in the cruelty’ and alleged that ‘hundreds and hundreds of people have suffered’ from his abusive behavior.

Caroline Rugo, who now works at Netflix, worked as an executive coordinator at the producer’s company for six months and stated: ‘Now that I have established myself here and I am a part of a team where my opinions are respected and welcomed, I have no issue speaking out about Scott. Everyone just knows he’s an absolute monster.’

The 62-year-old’s films have earned 151 Oscar nominations and 23 wins, including best picture for the Coen brothers’ 2007 drama No Country for Old Men.

The producer, who’s one of the few people to have achieved EGOT status for his career, also enjoyed further success on the theater front, with 17 individual Tony Awards to his name.
