Piers Morgan has opened up about the ‘disgusting’ death threats his sons have received since his ongoing row with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

The 55-year-old has three sons – Spencer, Stanley and Albert – from his previous marriage to former nurse Marion Shalloe, and a daughter, Elise, he welcomed with his current spouse Celia Walden.

Following his first televised interview since quitting Good Morning Britain over his spat with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – where he accused Meghan of leading a ‘smear campaign’ against the Royal family – Piers continued his tour of US TV shows, appearing on Extra with Billy Bush.

‘All I can say is there were 57,000 complaints against me, which were driven by an online mob that came for me all day, came for members of my family, who were abusing my sons all day long, issuing death threats to them,’ he vented.

The presenter assured his wife Celia has been ‘completely supportive’ during the height of his storm with Harry and Meghan, but his sons have been subject to threatening abuse by trolls.

‘The idea my sons had to be targeted by so-called liberals in a way that was threatening to them, abusive to them… is completely disgusting,’ he added.

Following Meghan and Harry’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, Piers said he refused to believe the former Suits star’s suicidal thoughts were dismissed by the Royal family.

His remarks sparked more than 57,000 complaints to Ofcom – a record for the TV watchdog – and were universally slammed by mental health groups.

Regardless, he only doubled down on his accusations against Meghan and has continued to defend his right ‘to have an opinion’.

Also in his interview on Extra, he claimed he’s received messages of ‘gratitude’ from the Royal family and his only regret over the entire explosion is walking off set following a clash with his co-star Alex Beresford live on Good Morning Britain.

Piers stressed he returned to the programme that morning. And he dismissed claims his stance on Meghan and Harry is racist.

He said: ‘I’m not a racist. Nothing I’ve ever said about Meghan Markle is either racist or racially motivated. I’ve been very critical of Prince Harry and last time I checked he was white and so I find this narrative deeply offensive.’
