Will.i.am is launching a Bluetooth-enabled facemask and you should probably avoid sticking it in the wash
Facemasks look to be part of our lives long term, so if you fancy investing in one with a few extra bells and whistles then will.i.am has got you covered.
The Voice UK star is launching the Xupermask in collaboration with Honeywell and designer Jose Fernandez, whose previous work includes Elon Musk’s SpaceX suits, and the films Black Panther and X-Men 2.
The slick, futuristic looking mask does more than just cover your nose and mouth when you’re out shopping.
The ‘smart mask’ is Bluetooth enabled and comes with a filtration system, LED lights, microphone and three dual speed fans and is able to take phone calls.
Need to listen to music en route? There are noice cancelling headphones built in too, and with a seven-hour battery life the Xupermask can keep you going all day.
Probably not the best idea to pop this one in the wash.
Perhaps more practically it also comes with adjustable straps so you can wear it with ease.
A release date has been given as April 8 (great news if you have some cash left over from pay day) and will launch on the official website at $299 (£216).
An advert was dropped on Instagram encouraging fans to sign up to find out first when the mask is available.
Speaking to The New York Times, the Black Eyed Peas star said: ‘We are living in sci-fi times. [The pandemic] is straight out of a friggin’ movie. But we are wearing masks from yesterday’s movie.
‘So I wanted to make a mask to fit the era that we’re in.’
