Eamonn Holmes apologises for not replying to fan messages after baby news as he has steroid injections to ward off ‘debilitating’ back pain
Eamonn Holmes apologised to his social media followers for not replying to their messages after he revealed he is going to be a grandfather.
The presenter shared live on This Morning that his son Declan and daughter-in-law Jenny are expecting a baby.
The 61-year-old was of course thrilled by the news, saying: ‘When they told me the news, I got very emotional by it,’ adding that he was ‘in tears’ after being told.
Viewers sent messages of congratulations on social media, however Eamonn said his ‘debilitating’ chronic pain has prevented him from responding.
The TV star has recently had physiotherapy in the hope it will help, and more recently received steroid injections.
He tweeted: ‘I have been very bad at answering and acknowledging so many “Grandpa” good wishes today.
‘Please forgive and understand how draining and debilitating this Back pain I’m suffering is. I’m drained. Had steroid injections today which will Hopefully turn the tide.’
The host was previously seen using a walking stick to get around the This Morning studio.
Earlier this month he was admitted to hospital in agony, and shared he had no idea what was at the root of the unbelievable pain, which has stopped him sleeping in recent weeks.
Sharing a photo of himself waiting to be seen, he posted: ‘At hospital…pain like I’ve never experienced in my life.
‘Need to find out what’s causing this. Wish me well.’
Declan is Eamonn’s son from his previous marriage with Gabrielle Holmes, which lasted from 1985 to 2005. The pair also share their children Rebecca and Niall.
He also has 19-year-old son Jack with wife Ruth Langsford.
