Nadia Sawalha has likened the guilt of having a second child to infidelity, with the Loose Women star explaining that she worried about sharing her love around.

The presenter shares two children with her husband Mark – Maddy and Kiki.

On the show, the Loose Women panellists opened up about their own experiences of having more than one child, after Paloma Faith admitted she sometimes feels guilty after welcoming her second.

Paloma said on Instagram: ‘Torn between the two kids.

‘The new one is like a new love, I am fascinated and besotted by her and she needs me more than she needs anyone else.

‘Then the first one and I miss each other so much we are heartbroken.’

Asked whether she can relate, Nadia said: ‘I really can.

‘In fact, when I was coming towards the end of my pregnancy with Kiki, I felt almost like it was the guilt of infidelity, and I would just look at Maddy just longingly, thinking, “I don’t mean it, I don’t mean it.”

‘I couldn’t imagine loving anyone as much as I loved her, so I also felt really guilty about Kiki. Of course, the love doubled, it didn’t half.

‘But I love that post, because I think there’s so much we feel guilty about in those early days and there’s nothing like another woman saying, “This is how I feel.”‘

Jane Moore went on to say that she found it slightly easier due to their being quite a large age gap between her children. She has her daughters  Ellie and Grace and is step-mum to her husband Gary’s daughter Lauren.

Meanwhile, Penny Lancaster, who joined as a guest panellist, said she made sure that her eldest son, Alastair, was very involved when her youngest, Aiden, came along.

Nadia often mentions her daughters on the show, with the presenter being left in tears last year when they surprised her with a sweet video message.

She and Mark have been married since 2002.

Sharing a sweet snap of the pair of them for Valentine’s Day this year, she penned: ‘No one makes me laugh like you do, no one loves me like you do, no one p***es me off like you do, no one impresses me like you do, no one enrages me like you do, no one farts like you do, no one howls with laughter like you do.

‘You are one of a kind. Thank god we saved each other’s lives. And thank god we decided to enjoy a large plate of egg and fag sarnies that very first night 😉.’

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
