DMX still on life support as grim death rumours surface
DMX’s manager has confirmed the rapper is still on life support and fighting to survive, after death rumours surfaced.
The Where The Hood At rapper, 50, was rushed to a hospital in New York last week, after he suffered a heart attack.
TMZ reported that the musician hadn’t gained any brain function, and is said to remain in a coma – with #RIPDMX trending on Twitter soon after as a close pal appeared to imply he had died.
However, his manager and long-time friend, Steve Rifkind, begged people to stop spreading the rumour as he is still alive.
Taking to Instagram, he shared a video where he urged: ‘Everybody, please stop posting these rumours. DMX is still alive.
‘Yes, he is on life support but please, it’s not helping anybody seeing these false rumours.
‘Let the family relax for a night. You’ll be hearing a statement from the family sometime tomorrow…
‘I’ve been with DMX for the past three years, so the only thing I ask is stop with the rumours. He’s still alive and he’s on life support.’
Alongside the clip, Steve penned: ‘DMX is still alive but he is on life support.’
It has been claimed the rumours were sparked by DMX’s friend, comedian Luenell, when she paid tribute to the rapper.
‘It is over. My friend is gone. Soar w/ the [birds],’ she penned in a now-deleted Instagram story.
‘Join the best that ever did it. RIP….. DMX.’
The star later removed this post and clarified her words in another story.
‘When your spirit leaves and your organs fail you, the body becomes just a shell,’ she added.
‘One becomes wrapped in the Lord’s arms. That’s what “I” call gone. I’m sorry to all.’
DMX has been battling for his life in hospital for a week, with fans and famous faces rushing to offer their well wishes on social media.
His family recently released a statement over his health issues, which read: ‘On Friday night, April 2nd, 2021, our brother, son, father, and colleague DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, was admitted to White Plains (NY) Hospital, facing serious health issues.
‘We ask that you please keep Earl/DMX and us in your thoughts, wishes, and prayers as well as respect our privacy as we face these challenges.’
