Prince Philip to be remembered in live programme hosted by Julie Etchingham and Phillip Schofield

Prince Philip’s life will be remembered in a special live show on ITV, hosted by Phillip Schofield and Julie Etchingham. 

The Duke Of Edinburgh, who died at the age of 99 on Friday, will be the focus of the live programme, Prince Philip, Fondly Remembered, looking back at his extraordinary life. 

It comes after ITV announced changes to its Friday schedule following Prince Philips death, saying in a statement: ‘ITV News will broadcast continuous coverage throughout the afternoon, celebrating Prince Philip’s life, his unique contribution to British history, and looking back at his decades of service to the Queen and the country.’

Prince Philip, Fondly Remembered will celebrate the Royal Consort’s life and legacy, with Julie and Philip speaking to ‘those who knew him best and understood him most, about his personality and his passions.’

ITV will also feature a host of shows dedicated to Queen Elizabeth’s late husband, including a specially commissioned film, Prince Philip: Duke Of Edinburgh, featuring ‘personal testimony and rich archive content’ and a documentary special, Prince Philip: A Royal Life.

The channel has also said that it will not show adverts during coverage of Prince Philip’s death, which saw many of their usual shows cancelled for the evening and will have an extended News at 10 tonight.

News of Prince Philip’s death was announced around midday, with a statement from Buckingham Palace reading: ‘It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. 

‘His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.’

It added: ‘The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.’

Prince Philip, who would have turned 100 in June, had recently been treated at King Edward VII Hospital and St Bartholomew’s Hospital, where he initially received care for an infection but then underwent heart surgery for a pre-existing condition.

He returned to Windsor Castle on March 16 after a month in hospital, to be reunited with the Queen.

Prince Philip, Fondly Remembered airs at 7pm tonight (Friday, April 9) on ITV.
