Kelly Clarkson once pooped in trash can during live show: ‘I destroyed it!’
Kelly Clarkson was once caught very short when she was forced to poop in a dustbin during a live show.
The former American Idol winner, 38, recounted the emergency call of nature during a chat with country music star Clint Black, 59, on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Thursday.
During the interview, musician Clint discussed needing to urinate on stage during a show.
The Voice judge Kelly responded: ‘Well, I’ll tell you right now, there was one time – it wasn’t pee, my friend.
‘I got some kind of wrecked up from some kind of food. We were in an arena – and I shouldn’t tell this story, but like I said, my man, I don’t have a filter.
‘I had to run backstage to my quick change. I grabbed this poor trash can, and boy, I destroyed it. It was bad. It was bad, Clint!
‘And we might have to edit this out, but I’m just saying, it happens. What are you supposed to do?’
Clint joked back: ‘I’m just trying to visualise – hang on.’
Kelly appeared in good spirits after recently saying she’d been relying on music to help her cope with her divorce from Brandon Blackstock.
The singer and her estranged husband revealed their separation in June last year and she admitted she became her own ‘hero’ after the split.
During an earlier episode of her show, she said: ‘So I’m going through a divorce and there’s been like a lot of books and people always give you stuff to help, especially when you have kids and stuff.
‘And there’s so much shame and guilt, and everybody sends you stuff, and I was just kind of working through it. I couldn’t quite nail down the feeling.’
She added: ‘There’s a lyric on my new album. It’s, “by the way, piece of me, I found out my hero is me”.
‘Not like in a negative sense. It’s almost too much to put on someone to do that for you, you have to do that for yourself.’
