Adams fatally shot Dr Robert Lesslie, 70, his wife, Barbara, 69, their two young grandchildren Adah, nine, and Noah, five, along with a fifth victim, James Lewis, 38, who was working at the couple’s home on Wednesday.

Shook, also 38, was the only survivor and his daughter has now given an update on his condition, revealing he went into surgery and doctors were able to “repair the holes in his stomach and his colon.”

Keleigh Morgan, 18, wrote in a Facebook post to family and friends: “Daddy went into surgery this morning around 9/9:30. We arrived at the hospital around 1:30 and he was still in surgery.

“After surgery they let us know that surgery went well. he lost a lot of blood, but they were able to repair the holes in his stomach and his colon.

“He was shot several times so there was obviously things to repair today. He is still in ICU, on the ventilator.

“The blood loss has caused his kidney function to decrease, but they have started him on dialysis and it can be reversed.

“The dialysis was necessary also because his potassium levels were getting too high. He had a blood clot in his right [leg] but they were able to remove it.

“Now his left leg has no pulse, so they are running tests to see what it may be.

“After all that is over, and they decide if they need to go back to the OR, they are going to try to get him slowly off sedation.

She went on to say the family have visited him in the ICU but admit he has a “very long road ahead of him”.

Keleigh went on: “But the doctor told us today he has more hope than he had this morning so things may be looking up a little bit.

“Thank you all for all the prayers, text messages, phone calls, and sweet words we have gotten over the past 24 hours.

“Sorry if we have not been able to reply to many messages, but we are so thankful for everyone reaching out.

“PLEASE continue to pray, as there is a long journey ahead. God has got this. Daddy has an army behind him.”

Shook is being supported by his wife Holly, and their three children, age seven, 13, and 18, WBTV reported.

His cousin, Cindy Bailies, also took to social media to describe Shook as a “hard working man” and a “good father to a beautiful daughter and two wonderful sons”.

She described how he was out working at a client’s house when there was a home invasion and was “shot multiple times” and underwent surgery twice as he recovers from his injuries.

“I’m asking all my prayer warriors to please please send up prayers as often as you can for this man and his family for God’s mighty healing to send him back home with his family!” she said.

“His wife, children, Mama, and Brother needs him as well as the rest of the family. Also send up prayers for the other victims in the shooting as well, Robert was the only survivor. Thank you!”

Shook, an air conditioning repairman from Cherryville, South Carolina was shot along with five others during this week’s massacre just before 5pm.

He was reportedly “wrapping up” on the job with co-worker, Lewis, of Gastonia, North Carolina, who was also shot and died at the scene.

The pair are employees of Gastonia-based GSM Services and were working outside on Dr. Robert Lesslie’s air conditioning unit at the time of the attack, according to reports.

Adams’ dad Alonzo claimed ‘football messed him up’ in an interview after the killings

GSM announced today they have launched a Go Fund Me account for their colleagues, saying: “The outpour of love, support and prayers we have received has been overwhelming.”

The fund has already pulled in more than $28,000 for their families to help towards expenses.

EX-NFL star Adams had reportedly just had his meds taken away by his doctor victim before going on the killing spree which has shook the local community in Rock Hill.

South Carolina Rep Ralph Norman, who was a good friend of Robert Lesslie, told WBTV: “My understanding [is] he was treating him, and had, from my understanding, stopped giving him medicine, and that’s what triggered the killings.”

Adams, who played for multiple teams in the NFL during five seasons, forced his way into the Lesslie home before killing the family.

His father, Alonzo Adams, told WCNC that he believes his son became troubled after his time in the NFL.

“He’s a good kid, I think the football messed him up,” he said.

“I don’t think he ever did anybody any harm,” he added, before saying that Dr Lesslie used to treat him “a long time ago.”

Police said he used a .45 caliber weapon and was found with a single gunshot wound to the head. During the attack, a 9mm gun was also used.

Following the alleged incident, it was revealed that Adams had a rap sheet which included charges for carrying a concealed gun and assault.
