What time is I Can See Your Voice on BBC One and how does it work?
Saturday night television has a new surreal reality show in its schedule, as I Can See Your Voice begins tonight on BBC One.
Much like The Masked Singer, I Can See Your Voice was originally a South Korean show, which first premiered in 2015.
Last year, it was snapped up by the US to be hosted by Ken Jeong, and while ITV pounced on The Masked Singer, BBC One is now hoping that I Can See Your Voice will bring them similar success.
The show is presented by Paddy McGuinness, with Amanda Holden, Alison Hammond and Jimmy Carr making up a team of investigators along with a guest singer, who will try and suss out whether somebody is a good or bad singer, solely based on their looks and performance.
What time is I Can See Your Voice on?
I Can See Your Voice is on BBC One at 7.20pm, after The Hit List.
TV scheduling returns to normal tonight, after BBC One scrapped its listings on Friday to make room for rolling coverage of Prince Philip’s death.
How does I Can See Your Voice work?
Basically the opposite of The Voice and The Masked Singer, the judging panel will guess if a member of the public is a good singer before they’ve opened their mouth.
Every episode, two members of the public are tasked with finding the good singer in a group in the hopes of winning a £10,000 jackpot.
However, there’s also bad singers among the performers, and if they make it through to the end, they win the £10,000.
At the end of each round, the singer who is eliminated reveals whether they can sing or not, and the two contestants will be hoping that they don’t have the voice of an angel.
One of the rounds features a lip sync performance where the singers perform to a backing track, with the panel left to guess whether it’s their real voice or fake.
Paddy explained to BBC News: ‘You’ve got to guess by how they hold the microphone, their mannerisms, little video clips we see of their home life, and lip-sync rounds.
‘You want to leave a good singer to the very end, and get rid of the bad singers all throughout the show.’
I Can See Your Voice is on Saturday night at 7.20pm on BBC One.
