Katy Hill has been left ‘scarred for life’ after smashing her face against the toilet at her Oxfordshire home.

The former Blue Peter presenter, 49, received internal and external stitches on her forehead in hospital after the horrific accident.

The mishap happened 18 months ago when she was running with her daughter up the stairs.

She told The Sun this week: ‘It was a bad one and I was very grateful that the impact went down the centre of my forehead.

‘As I found out from the doctors, if it had been slightly to either side, I might not be here now because the skull is thin in those parts.

‘The irony isn’t lost on me that I used to jump out of planes and all sorts, and yet I injure myself in this way.’

Katy is mother to daughter Kaya, 14, and son Akira, 12, who she shares with her former Live & Kicking co-host Trey Farley.

The broadcaster, who spent three years living in Los Angeles, in now back in the UK and runs a business called Limitless by Katy Hill and is committed to helping other women with their personal development.

She previously told the Daily Mail: ‘When I eventually trained to be a coach I didn’t understand why this stuff wasn’t taught at school.’

She draws on both her professional and personal experience to help other women grow.

And Katy admits her accident has made her enjoy life more as she realises things can change for the worse unexpectedly.

She said: ‘It was such a wake-up call. None of us knows how long we’ve got, so it’s not good enough to live a 50 per cent life.’
