Taylor Swift fans heap praise on Kelly Clarkson for basically coming up with the idea for her to re-record masters two years ago
Taylor Swift fans heaped praise on Kelly Clarkson after unearthing an old tweet suggesting she re-record her masters.
Last week Taylor release her version of her 2008 album Fearless, which included re-recordings of all the tracks plus six previously unreleased songs.
It was the first album to drop since the star revealed she is re-recording her masters, after the rights to them were bought by producer Scooter Braun.
In July 2019 – just a month after Taylor spoke out about the deal – singer Kelly sent a message to the Love Story singer on Twitter, encouraging her to give an ‘incentive so fans no longer buy the old versions’
Kelly wrote: ‘Just a thought, U should go in & re-record all the songs that U don’t own the masters on exactly how U did them but put brand new art & some kind of incentive so fans will no longer buy the old versions. I’d buy all of the new versions just to prove a point.’
Taylor’s loyal fanbase have returned to her message, thanking her for inspiring their fave to release her version of all of her music.
‘Kelly you’re an angel’ one wrote under the tweet on Saturday while another commented that the tweet had ‘aged wonderfully’.
‘I f****g love Kelly’ one fan replied, as another said: ‘F**k yes @kellyclarkson, what a legend!!!’
‘The queen @taylorswift13 took @kellyclarkson’s advice!’ read another recently tweet.
‘Aged like a fine wine’ wrote another fan, with a further person writing: ‘Aged like a fine wine, thank you kelly’.
‘We owe Kelly Clarkson our lives’ read one particularly dramatic response as another person tweeted: ‘I LOOOOOVE @kellyclarkson & this tweet CLEARLY aged so well. Congrats to @taylorswift13 for making it happen like a BOSS with grace.’
Taylor, 30, has been vocal about the situation surrounding her masters, claiming that they ‘were not for sale to me’.
She described remaking her music as ‘a really amazing, fun adventure’.
‘So far, of the ones I’ve recorded, I think it’s been the most fun doing Love Story because the older music, my voice was so teenaged and I sometimes, when I hear my older music and my older young teenage voice, it makes me feel like I’m a different singer now,’ she told Good Morning America.
