Hinge is giving couples £100 to go on a date on this week

DATING app Hinge is encouraging singletons to make the most of England’s lockdown restrictions easing by paying them to go on dates.

The matchmaking outfit is offering would-be couples £100 if they meet up in-person this week.

It’s part of a drive to get people off of the app and back on dates as pubs and restaurants emerge from closures brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Provided they’re seated outside, Brits can drink and dine out for the first time in months after England’s lockdown rules were relaxed on Monday.

“At Hinge, we’re hearing our users loud and clear: They’re ready to get back out there and date in person again,” Hinge’s Logan Ury said.

“With this in mind, we expect to see a huge increase in dating this spring as restrictions lift.”

Hinge works by matching users based on their answers to a set of questions asked at sign up.

The app said that it will shell out £50 to each participant of a date organised through a match on the app between April 12 and April 18.

To be eligible, prospective couples will need to confirm via the app that they went on an in-person date with their match.

Hinge will then email details about how they can each receive a £50 gift card that can be put towards their second IRL date.

The New York-based company urged users to observe UK coronavirus restrictions and take all required precautions during any dates.

That takes any heavy petting off the cards, as you’ll have to wear a face mask and observe mandatory social distancing.

Hinge users will be able to confirm whether they went on a date through the We Met functionality starting Monday 19th April at 2pm BST.

Boris Johnson’s step-by-step plan for unlocking the UK economy has today seen pubs, restaurants, shops and hairdressers reopen.

The easing of restrictions began by sending kids back to school on March 8 and the return of the Rule of Six on March 29.

From today, pubs, gyms, salons and non-essential shops opened for the first time in 114 days as Covid lockdown eases.

Diners and boozers braved bitingly-cold weather as they flocked to beer gardens and outdoor seating areas, with pubs and restaurants finally able to welcome customers outside.

Thirsty punters were seen waiting patiently in line for bars to open at midnight.

Shaggy-haired Brits also raced to get their hair cut for the first time in months as salons saw clients from midnight.

In other news, Tinder is launching a feature that will let users runs background checks on potential dates.

Google is under fire for harvesting internet data of users browsing in Incognito Mode.

And, Apple analysts are speculating that the iPhone 13 may never come to market.
