Holly Willoughby has shared her thoughts on the easing of lockdown in England, admitting she was only able to celebrate each stage once it actually happens.

The This Morning presenter, 40, shared a photo of her sitting on some steps and enjoying the view as she revealed she was finally feeling hopeful about how things were going.

She wrote: ‘Restrictions are lifting, shops are opening, summer is on its way… Until we reach the day of these milestones I’m nervous to get too hopeful of it actually happening …

‘Well today it happened… it’s a good day…’ Concluding her joyful message, she added: ‘Full of hope and feeling good!’

Holly’s post came as lockdown restrictions were further eased in the UK to allow shops, pubs and gyms to reopen at long last.

The public are now able to visit hairdressers, meet in groups of six or two households at pubs and restaurants with outdoor seating as well as outdoor attractions being allowed to open.

Holly has documented her time in lockdown, sharing snippets of her life with fans on social media, including getting green-fingered in the garden.

Last month she revealed she was hoping to get her vegetable patches growing again for 2021, writing: ‘Well… lets try this again… not much success in 2020… keeps the snails and squirrels happy anyhow…’

She also reflected on a year in lockdown at the end of March, writing: ‘Morning Tuesday… It’s a year to the day that Prime minister Boris Johnson first put us into national lockdown…

‘Feeling rather reflective about how far we’ve come and how far we’ve got to go… Sending love to you and your families and especially thinking of you if this Year has taken away someone you love.’
