Good Morning Britain paid tribute to the late Big Brother star Nikki Grahame on today’s show, with Susanna Reid stating it had raised a ‘very important issue about eating disorders’.
Nikki died aged 38 on Friday morning following a life-long battle with anorexia. She had been getting treatment for her eating disorder at a specialist clinic, fundraised by her fans and friends.
Susanna, Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard shared their condolences to Nikki’s family.
‘I think it has caused real shockwaves and has really highlighted a very important issue about eating disorders, how seriously they must be taken,’ Susanna said.
‘I know her friends had really rallied around to try and help her.’
She continued: ‘We send our enormous love and support to Nikki’s friends and family. I can’t imagine what you’re going through right now.’
‘Horrific,’ added Kate.
‘It’s absolutely raised a lot of issues for people and those discussions are really, really important,’ Susanna continued. ‘Our love to all of you dealing with that loss.’
Nikki’s death was confirmed by her rep on Saturday.
‘It is with immeasurable sadness that Nikki Grahame passed away in the early hours of Friday, April 9 2021,’ they told Metro.co.uk.
‘Please respect the privacy of Nikki’s friends and family at this tragic and difficult time.’
Tributes have been pouring in for the star, with Big Brother presenter Davina McCall struggling to find the words.
‘I’ve typed and deleted three times… I can’t find the words… it’s just really tragic,’ she wrote alongside a picture of Nikki.
‘She was iconic. In the true sense of the word. Whose catch phrases will be with me forever ❤️ sending so much love to her friends and family. I’m so sorry. The pain you and she must have endured …. x 💔 RIP Nikki.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
