Jamie Dornan has showed off his new look for The Tourist, and it’s worlds away from the clean-cut image he usually portrays.

The actor, 38, was snapped on set for the upcoming series for Australian streamer Stan, HBO and BBC One, which has been filming in Flinders Rangers in the outback in South Australia.

Jamie was seen with a full beard and wearing jeans and a faded T-shirt for the role, as he carried a brown paper bag in one hand.

He was also seen stopping for a refreshment break between takes, which were happening at a remote petrol station set.

The Fifty Shades Of Grey actor is on his second week of filming for The Tourist, which had begun filming in locations in Adelaide before moving to the outback, where the petrol station set had been purpose-built for the production.

Icelandic-American actor Ólafur Darri Ólafsson was also spotted on set with a red hat on and sporting a thick beard of his own.

The Stan Original series will also star Hugo Weaving, Danielle MacDonald and Shalom Brune-Franklin and promises to be dramatic.

Jamie stars as a man who finds himself being pursued by a monster tank truck in the Australian outback, as it tries to run him off the road.

He later wakes up in hospital after the chase, hurt but alive and with no memory of who he is and who the figures from his past who are chasing him are and must search for the answers in the outback.

When the casting was announced, Jamie had enthused about the role, explaining: ‘The Tourist are some of the most exciting scripts I’ve ever read. I can’t wait to go to Australia with such a talented group of people.’

The six-part thriller series also stars Hugo Weaving, who added: ‘I’m very excited to be slipping into the skin of one of the fabulously idiosyncratic characters who people the desert landscape of The Tourist.

‘The scripts are wonderful. Dark and shocking, surprising and hilarious and always very human. This is a tonally uniquely project and should be an unforgettable ride and shoot for us all.’
