Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song have welcomed their first child together, and the couple are ‘overjoyed’.

The pair’s baby son, who they have named Dakota, was born on April 5 at 1.10pm in Los Angeles, weighing 6lb 8oz, according to Esquire.

Brenda and Macaulay, who met on the set of Changeland in 2017, had not announced their pregnancy prior to revealing their baby had been born.

The Home Alone star, 40, paid tribute to his late sister with the name of his son, after his sister Dakota died in 2008 at the age of 29 from injuries sustained from stepping in front of a moving vehicle.

Macaulay’s spokesperson had called the death a ‘terrible, tragic accident’ at the time, but the accident did not result in a criminal investigation as LAPD officers determined the driver was not drunk, had followed all laws and stopped to help.

Although the couple had kept the pregnancy under wraps, Macaulay and Brenda had been open about trying to start a family together.

He revealed to Esquire at the start of last year: ‘We practice a lot. We’re figuring it out, making the timing work.

‘Because nothing turns you on more than when your lady comes into the room and says, “Honey, I’m ovulating.”’

He also joked in an interview with Joe Rogan, in which he called Brenda his ‘special lady friend’, adding: This one’s a good one, so I’m probably going to put some babies in her in a little bit.

‘I mean, we’ve definitely been practicing. I’m going to have some pretty babies. She’s Asian, so I’m gonna have tiny little Asian babies. It’s going to be adorable.’

As well as Dakota, the couple are also parents to a host of animals including three cats, some fish, a Shiba Inu dog and a parrot.
