MasterChef fans are desperate for the BBC to confirm when the final episode will air after being delayed last week.

The hotly-anticipated episode was postponed on Friday following the Duke Of Edinburgh Prince Philip’s death aged 99 as the corporation suspended all of its non-news programming.

Viewers are demanding answers as to when they’ll find out who John Torode and Gregg Wallace have named as their winner of the 17th edition of the BBC cooking competition.

‘Could you please do the fans and more importantly the license fee paying public the courtesy of advising ASAP when you will be broadcasting the Masterchef final?’ pleaded one.

Echoing a similar sentiment, another begged: ‘For the love of God, when is the MasterChef final on?!?’

‘Forget pubs opening, all I want to know is when the MasterChef final is finally going to air,’ a third added, referring to the loosening of lockdown restrictions.

As it stands, Mike Tomkins, Tom Rhodes and Alexina Anatole are battling it out for the coveted title.

Alexina addressed the final being delayed in her latest Instagram post.

‘No, I don’t know when the MasterChef final will air,’ she penned. ‘Yes, it’s a shame it got cancelled on Friday but it was out of respect for the Queen so I think we can live with it.

‘Enough with the DMs asking me when it’ll be on ok?? 😜 As soon as we know, we’ll let you know!’

The MasterChef final wasn’t the only BBC show to be pulled off the air on Friday.

Other shows that were postponed or cancelled included The One Show, EastEnders and Have I Got News For You, while the Great British Menu was replaced on BBC Two.

BBC Radio was overhauled too, with all stations simulcasting Radio 4 after the news of Prince Philip’s death broke.

MasterChef is available for catch-up on BBC iPlayer.
