Red Bull Advisor Urges Fans to Give Sebastian Vettel ‘A Race or Three or Five’ to Come Good
Critics were quick to jump on the back of Sebastian Vettel after just one race with Aston Martin. The 4-times world champion’s poor result was headlined by some mistakes and ill luck. But most worryingly it looked as though Vettel wasn’t comfortable with the AMR21. To an extent, it was expected. The German had little time to get used to the machine in pre-season testing. Therefore, the advisor of his former team, Red Bull, has urged fans to be patient with Sebastian.
Dr. Helmut Marko has eased fans’ concern over Vettel‘s performance. He believes the ex-Ferrari driver needs a few races to come good.
Planet F1 quoted Marko saying, “I assume that with some time, a race or three or five, hopefully Vettel will also flourish at Aston Martin.”
Pointing out to the reason behind Vettel’s early struggles, Marko added, “Sebastian hasn’t been able to make many metres in the Aston Martin car, but he’s also made some mistakes.”
After a weekend from hell at Bahrain, Sebastian will hope to bounce back in Imola. Initially, Aston Martin was expected to be favorites to win the unofficial title of ‘best of the rest.‘ However, after pre-season and the opening race, that doesn’t appear to be the case.
Red Bull advisor compares Sebastian Vettel’s new team to Mercedes
The Austrian team’s advisor hints at Aston Martin’s early struggles being caused due to the low rake problem that Mercedes also suffers from. Since both the cars are quite similar in design, these two teams have lost the most speed from last year due to the newly introduced aero regulations.
Marko said, “We saw the difficulties Mercedes had in the test with the troubled car. Aston Martin and Mercedes have some similarities in terms of philosophy.
“What we saw from Aston Martin in Bahrain was that the car was of the same level as during the test. It immediately shows how strong Mercedes are, because they already managed to solve some difficulties prior to the first race.”
It’ll be interesting to see if Aston Martin can take Mercedes’ route and improve the car in the coming races. Irrespective of that, the Silverstone-based outfit will be hoping to score a lot more than a solitary point come April 18th.
