This Morning’s Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond have been celebrating the opening of pubs around the country by enjoying a boozy beverage at 10am, which we’re totally here for.
The presenting duo opened Monday morning’s show by raising a toast as lockdown restrictions continue to lift around the UK.
Dermot was seen sipping a beer as the programme began and expressed his joy at being able to head to his local for the first time in months.
Under the Government’s ‘road map’ to freedom, restaurants, bars and pubs in England are now allowed to welcome back customers, with thirsty Britons queueing outside their locals.
After opening the programme, Dermot was ecstatic to be outside with a drinking, saying: ‘And we are at the pub!’
While Dermot was seen relaxing with a beer before him, Alison revealed she was ‘having a Baileys’ to celebrate.
‘This is like our first jolly!’ Alison said, enjoying spending time with Dermot in the relaxed setting.
‘It’s the biggest day in the government’s roadmap out of lockdown,’ Alison continued, talking about the latest easing of measures.
Today marks the first significant easing of lockdown restrictions, with large parts of the economy allowed to resume services such as non-essential shops, hairdressers and gyms.
‘We are celebrating this milestone throughout the show,’ Dermot said, before joking: ‘If you’re half-tanked get in touch.’
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has urged people to be cautious ahead of the reopening of pub gardens and non-essential shops.
This Morning airs on weekdays at 10am on ITV.
