The Met Gala is the most exclusive fashion event of the year with famous faces from around the world clawing at the opportunity to get invited.

But one extremely well known person will never set foot on the glitzy red carpet on the night in New York again as host, Vogue editor Anna Wintour, does not want to see him return.

Anna made her remarks during an episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden in 2017, with the comments now resurfacing.

The journalist was given the choice of eating a pickled pig’s trotter or asking a question about who she would not invite again during a game of Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts.

At the time, James asked: ‘You famously host the celebrated Met Gala that takes place in Manhattan each year.

‘Celebrities from all walks of life are desperate to get a ticket. Everyone from Beyonce to George Clooney attends.

‘So, my question is, who would you never invite back to the Met Gala?’

Laughing but giving a very definite answer, she responded: ‘Donald Trump.’

The event takes place every year to raise funds for the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art’s costume institute.

And, while Donald and his wife Melania Trump may have been guests at the event a number of times in previous years, it seems Anna’s comments drove a wedge between her and the couple.

During her time in the White House as First Lady Melania was snubbed from being on the cover of Vogue despite previously appearing in 2005 after her wedding to former The Apprentice star Donald.

The Met Gala did not go ahead in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The event in 2019 was a typically flashy affair with the theme of Camp: Notes on Fashion, inspired by the Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay, Notes on Camp.
