Kanye West agrees to Kim Kardashian’s request for joint custody in divorce proceedings
Kanye West has agreed with estranged wife Kim Kardashian West’s request they share joint custody of their four children, court documents show.
Lawyers for the superstar rapper and billionaire fashion mogul filed a response at Los Angeles Superior Court, mirroring Kim’s filing from February.
The legal papers, obtained by the PA news agency, cite irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
Kanye, like his former partner, is requesting joint custody of North, seven, Saint, five, Chicago, three and one-year-old Psalm.
He did not list a date of separation. The Wests’ relationship had been subjected to months of speculation before divorce papers were filed.
Kanye, 43, also agreed with Kim’s request for the court to terminate its ability to award spousal support.
Both parties are billionaires, according to Forbes magazine, with Kim’s status being revealed by the magazine earlier this month.
Kim, 40, filed for divorce on February 19 and revealed she and West had a pre-nuptial agreement in place.
There has been intense speculation over their romance over the last few months – after the musician spoke about their private lives during his Presidential campaign rally in the summer.
Speaking to a packed crowd, he claimed that they considered aborting North, when Kim fell pregnant.
Kanye also made headlines when he branded Kim’s mother Kris Jenner ‘Kris Jong-Un’on Twitter and posted that he was trying to get divorced since Kim met Meek Mill in 2018.
The couple went public with their romance in April, 2012, and got married in a swanky ceremony in Italy two years later, just months after the birth of their eldest daughter, North.
