Line of Duty series 6: Who is Jo Davidson’s mysterious relative? Bookies’ favourite revealed
*Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Line of Duty*
Line of Duty fans are still reeling from the latest episode, which ended on a huge bombshell concerning DCI Joanne Davidson (played by Kelly Macdonald).
One of the show’s all-time great episodes ended by confirming that Jo is related to another person found in police records.
People have been doing their own detective work to try and work out whose details Spt. Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) was presented with at the end of episode four – and now the bookies have released their odds on who the mystery figure could be.
According to Betfair, the two biggest names in contention are Tommy Hunter (Brian McCardie) and John Corbett (Stephen Graham), who are at 2/1 and 5/2 respectively to be revealed as the mystery relative.
Criminal mastermind Tommy (Brian McCardle) was one of the most twisted characters on the show, and fans believe Jo could be his daughter.
John is also in contention after viewers spotted a piece of evidence way back in episode one.
Betfair spokesman Sam Rosbottom said: ‘Line of Duty fans are obsessed with finding out who Jo Davidson is related to – and mother of god, it is the show’s original baddie Tommy Hunter who is leading the way in the betting at 2/1, closely followed by John Corbett at 5/2.
‘Further down, the likes of fellow Scots Mike Dryden and Derek Hilton are at 4/1 and 12/1 respectively, while everyone’s favourite bent copper Dot Cottan is way out at 25/1.’
Betfair’s odds on Jo’s mystery relative
Tommy Hunter: 2/1
John Corbett: 5/2
Mike Dryden: 4/1
Andrea Wise: 8/1
Jackie Laverty: 9/1
Lindsay Denton: 10/1
Derek Hilton: 12/1
Gill Biggeloe: 16/1
Dot Cottan: 25/1
Danny Waldron: 33/1
After viewers learned that Jo is related to another person found in the police records, they also discovered a vital clue via the BBC’s subtitles that narrows things down.
Meanwhile, AC-12 could have looked very different in Line of Duty as Craig Parkinson has revealed he actually auditioned to play Steve Arnott, with the role eventually going to Martin Compston.
Line of Duty continues on Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
