Steven Avery’s lawyer Kathleen Zellner has vowed to share a huge update in case from The Netflix show Making a Murderer.

Avery, who is from Wisconsin, previously served 18 years in prison for the wrongful conviction of sexual assault and attempted murder of Penny Beerntsen in 2003.

Two years later, in 2005, he was arrested and charged with the murder of Teresa Halbach, a photographer who disappeared after photographing a vehicle at Avery’s salvage yard ,which became the subject of true crime series Making A Murderer.

Yesterday Avery’s lawyer, Zellner, took to Twitter to reveal that today we will finally find out who planted evidence in the Teresa Halbach murder.

‘Tomorrow you will find out who really planted Teresa Halbach’s RAV4 on the Avery Salvage Yard,’ she wrote.

The post has received a huge reaction online, with more than 18,000 people liking the tweet.

People commenting on the post have been sharing their opinion on the proceedings, as well as whether they think Avery is innocent.

‘Bring it on Kathleen. The world awaits the truth on one of the most blatant frame ups in legal history. And all those responsible should be jailed indefinitely,’ one person wrote.

‘Those who listened to the evidence in a court of law found him guilty. Those who watched a sensationalised documentary on a streaming platform believe he’s innocent. I know who I believe came to the correct verdict,’ said another.

Avery was convicted for the murder of Halbach in 2005 and is serving a life sentence without parole. Throughout proceedings he’s always maintained his innocence.

Avery and Zellner believe that the police framed him for the murder of Halbach after he sued them for wrongful conviction in 2003. Unfortunately in 2019, Avery’s appeal for a new trial was rejected.

Despite these updates, his lawyer has another suspect in mind for the murder: Bobby Dassey (the brother of Brendan Dassey, who was convicted alongside Avery for the murder of Halbach) whose laptop had images of pornography and violence towards women.

A new witness named Thomas Sowinski, claimed to have seen Dassey pushing a blue Rav-4 alongside an unidentified man. Sowinski was delivering newspapers to the Avery property on the morning of November 5, 2005, which was the day Halbach’s car was found by authorities.

‘This witness provides the most important evidence in the case to date,’ Zellner wrote to Newsweek.

‘He not only discredits the State’s star witness he links this person to the murder. The police ignored his tip. Steven would not have been convicted if this evidence had been known.’

The Rav-4, which had been hidden in the Avery family’s auto yard, potentially held evidence as to who the killer is.

Even though blood was found in the vehicle, some people believe evidence taken from the car was planted to frame Brendan and Avery. Zellner also has claimed that the car could have been moved to the Avery property from another location.

The sighting by Sowinski could support that theory, given Dassey and the unidentified man were allegedly pushing a car matching Halbach’s toward the Avery property.

Zellner has been sharing a variety of articles to her Twitter feed about the case, further claiming Avery’s innocence.

‘Tips are coming in re the identity of the second person—long beard, 6 feet, big frame,’ Zellner tweeted.

We wait with baited breath for more news to come to light.

Making A Murderer is available to stream on Netflix.
