Vernon Kay has spoken about how he had to remain apart from Tess Daly while filming Game of Talents, having previously spent weeks away from each other when he was on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

On Saturday April 10, Vernon, 46, launched a brand new game show on ITV called Game of Talents, which involves contestants having to guess the unique talents of a line-up of people.

The programme’s premiere featured Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood as a special guest, in addition to presenter Tess, who Vernon has been married to since 2003.

During an appearance on Tuesday’s edition of The One Show, Alex Jones and Rylan Clark-Neal spoke to Vernon about how he spent time apart from Tess while recording the show, aside from when they starred on an episode together.

One couldn’t help but draw parallels to a similar situation the A-list couple found themselves in at the end of last year, when they were separated for five weeks during Vernon’s time on I’m A Celebrity.

Recalling the joy of being able to be in the same bubble while filming Game of Talents together, Vernon said: ‘I’d been recording the show and I’d been away for 10 days at a time, two weeks in total, and I hadn’t seen her for a while.’

Shouting excitedly, he continued: ‘So it was kind of like, “Yeah!” So because we’re in the same bubble, we could actually mix and high five.’

Several people tuning in to watch Game of Talents were overjoyed to see Vernon back on their screens on a Saturday night.

‘Loving seeing Vernon back as a game show host!’ one person tweeted.

‘Okay, I quite enjoyed #GameOfTalents. Vernon Kay is great at hosting anything too,’ another remarked.

Vernon has presented numerous TV shows throughout his career, including All Star Family Fortunes, Just the Two of Us and Splash!

When Vernon returned home after being named the runner-up of I’m A Celebrity 2020, Tess shared a sweet selfie of them together on social media.

‘After almost 5 weeks away (2 and a half in isolation before going into the @imacelebrity Castle) it’s so good to have him home,’ she wrote in the caption, alongside a heart emoji.

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One. Game of Talents returns on Saturday at 7.30pm on ITV.
