Bachelor Nation stars such as Chris Harrison have shared messages of support for Colton Underwood after the former The Bachelor lead came out as gay.

Wednesday’s Good Morning America saw the former NFL star revealed he identifies as gay in a candid chat with Robin Roberts.

After the emotional interview aired, a statement was released by producers of the ABC reality dating series.

It read: ‘We are so inspired by Colton Underwood’s courage to embrace and pursue his authentic self.

‘As firm believers in the power of love, we celebrate Colton’s journey in the LGBTQIA+ community every step of the way.’

Host Chris Harrison took to Instagram to show his support as he stated: ‘Very proud of you today @coltonunderwood Happy to see you stand up and openly live your truth. You have my love and support my friend.’

Elsewhere, reality stars who competed on Colton’s season of The Bachelor in 2019 also revealed their pride about his decision to speak his truth.

Onyeka Ehie wrote: ‘Happy for @colton for speaking his truth. We support you.’

‘I’m so proud of you, @colton !’ fellow alum Nicole Lopez-Alvar tweeted.

Meanwhile, celebrities such as Andy Cohen sent their love to the star for his decision to come out publicly.

The Watch What Happens Live! host tweeted: ‘You’re free now, @colton. A toaster is on its way. Great interview @RobinRoberts.

‘Sending @colton love, light, support and deep respect,’ The View’s Meghan McCain wrote. ‘It is real bravery to live your truth in this world. Thank you for being so open and courageous with your journey.’

The Real’s Loni Love stated: ‘All the best to you @colton. Life gets better standing in your truth!!!’

During his interview, Colton admitted that he’s had experienced ‘suicidal thoughts’ which made him realize it was time to be honest about his sexuality.

As for his hopes for future relationships, Colton explained: ‘I still have a lot to work through. I’ll just go on record saying I still haven’t had an emotional connection with a man.

‘I’ve never allowed myself to…I want to, more than anything. I’m looking for someone who can push me and challenge me in all the great ways.’
