Daunte Wright’s ex-girlfriend creates Amazon wish list for baby son as supporters donate cash, toys, diapers & groceries

THE grieving ex-girlfriend of Daunte Wright has created an Amazon wish list for their son, with supporters donating expensive toys, cash, diapers, clothes and groceries, The Sun can exclusively reveal.

Wright, 20, was shot and killed by veteran police officer Kimberly Potter in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, on Sunday, causing days of unrest as protesters burnt down the police HQ.

Chyna Whitaker, who is the mother of two-year-old Daunte Jr, is being supported by friends and strangers, who have rallied around the family after her ex’s death.

She has confirmed she had split from Wright and was not the girl in the car with him when he was pulled over by Potter, who allegedly grabbed her handgun instead of a Taser and fired lethal shots.

On Tuesday, Potter and Brooklyn Center police chief Tim Gannon stepped down from their positions.

Wright was pulled over on Sunday April 11, when officers were alerted to his vehicle having expired license plate tags.

At the time, a warrant was reportedly out for his arrest after he was accused of aggravated robbery.

He allegedly choked a woman and threatened to shoot her if she did not hand over $820 in rent money that she had stuffed in her bra.

His ex Whitaker has spoken out about Wright’s tragic death, saying at a news conference that she felt police “stole my son’s dad from him.”

In a Facebook post seen by The Sun, she also wrote: “Sorry for the misunderstanding but me & Daunte wasn’t in a relationship just to clear that up we were co-parenting & also I’m not the girl that was in the car with him.

“To everybody sending me donations & money I just wanna say I appreciate you guys so much the love & support is everything.”

Chyna also reposted a photograph of graffiti which read: “You have stolen more than we could ever loot.”

Holistic Heaux, a health organization based in Minnesota, shared Chyna’s wishlist, cashapp, Venmo and Paypal details, as they appealed for help from the public.

The wishlist, seen by The Sun, includes a Mercedes Benz electric toy car worth $169.99, along with high-top slip-on sneakers at $29.98, and a Disney Mickey Mouse toddler’s tent bed for $74.99.

The Sun has reached out to Hollistic Health and Chyna Whitaker for comment.

The health organization, which initially had a few thousand followers, now has more than 22k supporters on Instagram.

Their drive for the family comes as more than $562k has been raised on a Go Fund Me account set up by Daunte’s aunt, Kelly Bryant, which will go towards funeral costs.

A statement on the page reads: “On April 11th, our 20-year-old son, Daunte Wright Sr., was fatally shot and killed by a Brooklyn Center police officer during a routine traffic stop. Our family is distraught as we struggle to understand why our loved one was taken away from us in such a senseless manner.

“All funds raised through this site will go towards covering funeral and burial expenses, mental health and grief counseling, providing support to Daunte’s infant son, Daunte Wright, Jr., and to help the Wright family in the fight for justice.

“100% of the funds raised on this site will go to the Wright family. NO PART OF THESE FUNDS WILL BE USED TOWARDS LEGAL FEES. The road to justice is very long, and the Wright family will not let what happened to Daunte be forgotten. The officer(s) who took his life must be held responsible.”

Potter, 48, a 26-year veteran of the Brooklyn Center Police Department, said she mistakenly grabbed her gun instead of her taser.

In body cam footage, the officer can be heard saying, “Holy s**t I shot him,” after her weapon had fired.
