Katie Price has revealed her mum, Amy, ‘hasn’t got long left’ due to her terminal lung condition, but Amy says she’s ‘not given up yet’.

The former glamour model, 42, revealed in a preview for her appearance on Steph’s Packed Lunch, that she is trying to spend as much time making memories with her mother as possible while she can.

Katie tells her mum in the clip that she was asked how Amy copes with her diagnosis of incurable idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

She explained: ‘My mum’s pretty strong, she’s accepted it but she’s not one of these people who will dwell on it, even though I know it’s on your mind.’

Amy is seen replying: ‘I haven’t given up yet. I’ve got to accept the fact that I know I’m going to deteriorate.’

When she starts coughing, Katie tells her to turn up her oxygen to which Amy replied: ‘I’ll be alright in a minute.’

Katie scolds: ‘No, it’s because you don’t want to turn it up. That’s why – you don’t want to rely on it.’

The short film Katie has made for Steph’s Packed Lunch investigates how people with incurable illnesses and their families can embrace life.

Katie says: ‘My mum is my absolute rock, my absolute best friend and to be told she’s got an incurable breathing disease breaks my heart. Sadly, she hasn’t got long left to live.’

In the film, Katie also meets a 33-year-old woman with terminal cancer to see how she is embracing the time she has left.

Following their meeting, Katie reveals: ‘What I’ve learned from today is to spend as much time as I can with my mum.

‘You’ve just got to take each day as it is, build as many memories, don’t have regrets and just be happy.’

Amy recently revealed that she is in her ‘last couple of years’ after being diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2017, which means the lungs become scarred and breathing becomes increasingly difficult.

The 66-year-old revealed on Good Morning Britain in February: ‘I’m very up and down really. Obviously it’s terminal. I should imagine I’m in my last couple of years now.

‘What with Covid and everything, if I catch a cold or Covid there’s no hope, so that would be the end of it for me.’

Watch the full film on Steph’s Packed Lunch on Channel 4 from 12.30pm on Wednesday April 14 when Katie will also be live in the studio with Steph McGovern.
