Sylvester Stallone denies he’s joined Donald Trump club
Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone has insisted he’s not a member of Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club.
This week reports in the US claimed the Rocky icon and action star had joined the former president’s club, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach after recently moving to the area, which spawned all the Twitter shade.
A Page Six article claimed Stallone had become one of the newest members of the club, with a source telling the publication: ‘Sly just became a member of Mar-a-Lago.’
However a representative has now said the 74-year-old was invited to the club but is not a member.
In a statement obtained by the PA news agency, Michelle Bega said: ‘Sylvester Stallone has never been and is not now a member of Mar-a-Lago as has been falsely reported.
‘He was an invited dinner guest at the Club but is not himself a member there.’
A statement in The Hollywood Reporter added: ‘He did not join the organisation, he did not pay initiation dues.’
The star attended a fundraising dinner at the Palm Beach, Florida, club ‘and from that event it was mistakenly assumed that he was there as a member’.
Bega said, however, Stallone is a member of the nearby Breakers Palm Beach after local reports claimed he bought a $35.38million (£25m) Palm Beach estate in December.
Hitting out at the reports himself, the actor addressed the claims on social media and denied they were true.
He wrote alongside a picture of a news report: ‘I would like to say to everyone that this never happened.
‘This is just not true. It NEVER ever happened..I mean no disrespect to anyone, I’m simply not a member .. So Keep Punching Folks.’
He had previously attended the club – which Trump has owned since 1985 – as a guest for Mar-a-Lago’s New Year’s Eve celebration in 2016.
It was recently announced Stallone will not be appearing in Rocky spin-off Creed III, which Michael B Jordan will direct as well as star in.
Stallone had reprised the role of Rocky Balboa for the first two Creed films, while his performance in 2015’s Creed earned him an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor.
