The new series of The Great British Sewing Bee is launching, with 12 new amateur sewers waiting in the wings to impress the judges and the public in the 2021 competition.

Presented by comedian Joe Lycett, The Great British Sewing Bee – a spin-off from The Great British Bake Off – also stars judges Esme Young and Patrick Grant.

Having first launched in 2013, each week of the show will see the competitors put to task in three separate challenges.

In the first task, the Pattern Challenge, the sewers must choose a fabric from the haberdashery with which they must all make the same pattern.

Next in the Transformation Challenge, they’re given just 90 minutes to take old pieces of clothing and turn them into something entirely new that will make them stand out amongst the line-up.

Lastly, the Made to Measure Challenge involves the contestants fitting their creations to a model, in a task that they are able to prepare ahead of time.

Joe, who has been presenting the series since 2019, recently shared a selfie of himself with the contestants on social media.

‘The @britishsewingbee class of 2021. A terrific bunch: talented, ingenious, passionate, vicious, sensational, tearful, effervescent, spectacular, mad, violent, beautiful, powerful, wild, terrifying, unstoppable, incandescent and very good at sewing. I added some words for dramatic effect,’ he wrote in the caption.

Hospital doctor Clare Bradley was the winner of The Great British Sewing Bee 2020.

What time is it on?
