Astronaut shares incredible time-lapse of our Milky Way galaxy captured from SpaceX ship

A STUNNING video of the Milky Way has been captured from the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule.

The Crew Dragon Resilience is currently attached to the International Space Station as it orbits our planet.

Nasa astronaut Mike Hopkins tweeted the amazing Milky Way time-lapse video.

He said: “I didn’t think the views could get any better, then my crewmate @Astro_Soichi took this night timelapse from Resilience and I was blown away.”

Noguchi is a Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut who arrived at the ISS with Hopkins and two others in November 2020.

His video shows the stars in our Milky Way galaxy sparkling in all their glory.

Noguchi has taken plenty of stunning space images and videos since he arrived at the ISS and posts them on his own Twitter account.

The Crew Dragon Resilience capsule is expected to undock from the ISS and return to Earth at the end of this month.

It should land off the coast of Florida with a parachute-assisted splashdown.

Hopkins and Noguchi are expected to return with it.

They were part of the SpaceX Crew-1 launch but the Crew-2 mission should start heading to the ISS on April 22.

Nasa’s blogpost currently states: “Crew-2 is currently scheduled for launch on Earth Day, April 22.

“Crew-1, the first long-duration commercial crew mission, will return to Earth on April 28.”

What is the ISS?

Here’s what you need to know about the International Space Station…

  • The International Space Station, often abbreviated to ISS, is a large space craft that orbits Earth and houses astronauts who go up there to complete scientific missions
  • Many countries worked together to build it and they work together to use it
  • It is made up of many pieces, which astronauts had to send up individually on rockets and put together from 1998 to 2000
  • Ever since the year 2000, people have lived on the ISS
  • Nasa uses the station to learn about living and working in space
  • It is approximately 250 miles above Earth and orbits around the planet just like a satellite
  • Living inside the ISS is said to be like living inside a big house with five bedrooms, two bathrooms, a gym, lots of science labs and a big bay window for viewing Earth
