“Clearly, I Should Be”: Serena Williams Reveals the Role She Would Play If She Were Cast in a Movie

If you’re looking for a real-life superhero, look no further than Serena Willams.

From staying on top of women’s tennis for the better part of a decade if not more, winning 23 Grand Slam titles and breaking numerous records, to managing career and motherhood with similar devotion, she’s been an icon for many.

She has broken many barriers, tore down many artificial walls which put women athletes of a certain age in a mould, thereby preventing them from chasing their goals.

Serena Williams says she would play action hero in a movie

Serena is certainly a hero of our times and deserves a movie made on her.

And sure enough, the lives of the Williams sisters, especially the early years under their father’s tutelage, will be brought on reel in a soon-to-be-released film titled ‘King Richard’.

So, if Serena was acting in a movie, what role would she want for herself?

The American lost little time to answer that question during a chat with actor Michael B Jordan as part of Vanity Fair’s Cocktail Hour Live!

Asked what role she would play if she was cast in a movie, the 39-year-old American said, “I would play an action hero, because, clearly, I should be an action hero”.

Serena Williams had wished to meet actor Robert Downey Jr. as he played ‘Iron Man’

In an earlier interview, Serena had revealed that she was high on Marvel comics.

She even took her pick among the Marvel superheroes, saying that Iron Man was her favorite.

The champion even voiced a wish to meet superstar Robert Downey Jr., saying she loved his portrayal of Iron Man and would love to meet him someday.

On the career front, the American failed to add to her seven Australian Open titles this year, going down to her present-day nemesis and eventual champion Naomi Osaka.

The defeat prolonged her agonizing and seemingly interminable wait for a 24th Grand Slam title which would put her on level with the legendary Margaret Court’s career haul of Major championship trophies.

Serena arrived at Melbourne Park in the hope of ending her three-year wait and seemed to be poised to lift her eighth Australian Open title.

However, she couldn’t produce the goods against the Japanese who sent her packing after a sensational straight-set win.
