The countdown to a Love Island summer is on, and speculation is already mounting that bosses have already signed up their first contestant.

According to a new report, the son of boxer Nigel Benn had video meetings with show bosses earlier this year, and they’re apparently ‘very excited’ at the possibility of having him on the programme.

Harley is the child of Nigel and Lisa Andrews, who had an affair when the boxer’s wife Caroline was undergoing IVF.

The 24-year-old was born four days before Nigel and Caroline welcomed their twins Conor and India in September 1996.

Following in the footsteps of his father, Harley is also a boxer, and he boasts almost 9,000 followers on Instagram.

‘Harley’s already got a huge following and gets loads of attention from the girls,’ a source told The Sun.

‘He’s had video meetings with the casting team and everyone is very excited at the prospect of having him on the show.’

A Love Island representative told Metro.co.uk that no decisions have been made on the line-up for this year.

Harley previously told the Daily Mail that he has an ‘inconsistent relationship’ with his father after he left his mother before he was born and took a paternity test.

‘I used to go visit him in Beckenham. They then moved to Majorca and we didn’t see each other for years,’ he said.

‘He didn’t make much effort at all and after a while that got me thinking, “Why should I make an effort if he won’t?”‘

However, the duo seems to have worked on their relationship as Nigel appears on Harley’s Instagram account frequently.

Whether Harley joins the cast or not, we can’t wait to find out what this season has in store.
