Colton Underwood won’t be starring in a gay version of The Bachelor after coming out
The Bachelor’s Colton Underwood has ‘no plans’ to return to the dating series in a bid to find love after coming out as gay, new reports state.
The 29-year-old singleton came out as gay this week, two years after 30 women fought for his affections on the popular ABC dating show.
But despite the announcement being the perfect platform to launch the franchise’s first same-sex season – with Colton potentially even returning – it’s been claimed there’s been ‘zero discussion’ about it.
‘We’re still a ways from that happening. There are no plans of having Colton return to the Bachelor franchise anytime soon,’ a source told The Sun.
Colton, a former NFL player, appeared on Good Morning America on Wednesday morning to discuss his sexuality, admitting he struggled to come to terms with it due to his religious upbringing.
‘For me, I’ve ran from myself for a long time. I’ve hated myself for a long time. I’m gay,’ he said.

‘I came to terms with that earlier this year and have been processing it. The next step in all of this was letting people know.’
The TV personality continued with a shaky voice: ‘I’m still nervous but it’s been a journey for joy.
‘I’m emotional but I’m emotional in such a good, happy, positive way.
‘I’m the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been in my life and that means the world to me.’
It’s now been reported that he will be launching his own reality on adjusting to life now he’s out, with former Olympian skater Gus Kenworthy acting as his ‘gay guide’.
Since filming his leading series in 2019, Demi Burnett, one of the women who tried to win over Colton, announced that she was bisexual on spin-off Bachelor in Paradise.
She later stated that she’d ‘love’ to see an LGBT season of the dating show, but feared that ‘Karens’ who watch it are preventing the production team from taking the leap.
